Venue hire at Ancient House
A beautiful place to meet in the 'Old Capital of East Anglia'
Conveniently located in the centre of the historic town of Thetford, just off the A11 dual carriageway between Norwich and London, Ancient House provides a truly beautiful venue for your meeting or group booking.
Set in a wonderfully well-preserved Tudor house on the old Norwich to London road, Ancient House is now a museum that tells the remarkable story of Thetford and the surrounding Breckland countryside. Made of oak and wattle and daub, the building is a rare survival from the Tudor period. The atmospheric main hall features beautiful, carved ceiling timbers and a decorated fireplace. The house became a museum in 1924, thanks to keen historian Prince Frederick Duleep Singh, son of Maharajah Duleep Singh; who was befriended by Queen Victoria. Rich collections span the centuries from pre-history through to the 1960s, with superb replicas of the amazing Roman hoard known as the Thetford Treasure.
